MDF

Oct 19, 2022

MDF, also known as fiberboard, is a man-made board made of wood fibers or other plant fibers and applied with urea-formaldehyde resin or other suitable adhesives. It is made by soaking wood, branches and other objects in water and then hot grinding, paving and hot pressing. Because of its soft impact resistance, high strength, uniform density after pressing, it is also easy to reprocess, but the disadvantage is poor water resistance. Medium and high density boards are made by grinding small-diameter wood and adding glue under high temperature and high pressure. They are commonly used now. MDF is one of the best man-made boards in my country.

Classification:

According to the density, it can be divided into high density board (HDF), medium density board (MDF), low density board (LDF)

Common specifications are 1220*2440mm and 1525*2440mm.

Thickness: 3mm, 5mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 16mm, 18mm, 20mm, 25mm, 30mm.

According to "Medium Density Fiberboard" (GB/T 11718), MDF is divided into ordinary type, furniture type and load-bearing type.

characteristic:

Advantages: The MDF surface is smooth and flat, the material is fine, the performance is stable, the edge is firm, and the surface of the board is well decorated.

Disadvantages: MDF has poor moisture resistance, and in contrast, MDF has poorer nail holding power than particleboard. If the screw is loosened after tightening, it is difficult to fix again due to the low strength of MDF.
